Intelligence that can move

Raushan Kumar

AI / ML  ·  COMPUTER SCIENCE  ·  BUILDER

Building intelligent systems where software reasons, decides, and acts on the physical world.

01Intelligence

It begins as intelligence.

Scattered data finds structure.

Thousands of points drift, then organise into layers — a neural system taking shape. Connections form, the network tightens toward a single point, and intelligence becomes a signal ready to travel. This is where my focus lives: retrieval, vision and language systems that turn raw data into understanding.

02Electronics

The signal gains a body.

Intelligence becomes physical.

The signal lands on a board. Copper traces draw themselves, components settle into place and pulses start to travel — LEDs answer. I'm drawn to this boundary where software meets hardware: microcontrollers, sensors and circuits that let code act on the world.

03Robotics

The circuit learns to move.

An exploded machine finds its shape.

Parts converge from the dark and assemble: a base, joints, links, a motor, a sensor. Then it moves — motion driven by control, feedback closing the loop. Robotics is an interest I keep returning to, where perception, control and mechanism meet.

04Mechanics

Motion becomes mechanism.

One gear turns the next.

A driver gear turns a shaft; meshing gears respond with the right ratios and directions. Nothing is decorative — every part transfers force to another. I like understanding systems down to the physics that makes them work.

05Builder

A blueprint becomes a system.

Idea → design → build → test → debug → iterate.

A wireframe fills in and becomes a working whole, components circling like tests under way. This is the throughline: I don't just write code — I like building things and taking them from a sketch through the messy middle of debugging to something that actually runs.

SignatureThe Loop

Intelligence becomes physical in a loop.

Every system I care about closes the same circle — perceive, reason, act, then measure the result and correct. This is where software stops answering questions and starts changing the world.

06Real work

Where the system does real work.

Three software/AI projects — each one a pipeline you can follow end to end, from raw input to a useful result.

WisdomLens

Retrieval-augmented answers grounded in a real knowledge base.

A chat-based knowledge assistant that answers questions from a stored text knowledge base. Semantic search over 800+ chunks with Sentence-Transformers + FAISS finds the most relevant passages, and a RAG pipeline feeds that context to a locally-run Llama 3.2 (via Ollama) for grounded, bilingual answers.

Problem
LLMs answer confidently even when they don't know — and can't cite where an answer came from. WisdomLens keeps answers tied to real source passages.
Engineering challenge
Keeping retrieval, generation and the chat UI as independent parts behind a REST API, so each could evolve without breaking the others — and running the model locally through Ollama instead of a paid API.
Status
Working project. FastAPI backend + React frontend; retrieval over 800+ text chunks with bilingual responses.

SYSTEM FLOW

  1. Knowledge base

    Source text enters the system.

  2. Chunking

    Split into 800+ semantic chunks.

  3. Embeddings

    Each chunk becomes a vector.

  4. Vector search

FAISS nearest neighbours to the query.

  5. Retrieval

    Top-k relevant context selected.

  6. Llama 3.2

    Answer generated, grounded in context.

  7. Answer

    Traceable, source-linked response.

LifeLens AI

Multimodal knowledge — documents, images and notes, unified.

A multimodal personal knowledge system where documents, notes and images live and are searched in one place. Tesseract OCR, spaCy and Sentence-Transformers turn every uploaded file into searchable text; embeddings + metadata sit in PostgreSQL with pgvector so similarity search stays fast across file types, all behind a responsive Next.js frontend.

Problem
Useful information is scattered across PDFs, screenshots and notes in different formats — impossible to search as one corpus.
Engineering challenge
Making mixed modalities searchable together: extracting clean text from images via OCR and unifying everything into a single pgvector index that stays fast as file types differ.
Status
Under development. The public repository contains the project source and specification; no live demo is listed.

03Computer Vision· 2026

VisionDetect

Real-time object detection from images, video and a live camera.

A computer-vision application that detects objects and people in uploaded images and videos, and in a live camera feed. YOLO + OpenCV identify categories like phones, bottles and people; video is processed frame by frame, each detection drawn with a bounding box and class label.

Problem
Turning a raw camera or video feed into structured, labelled scene understanding that a program can act on.
Engineering challenge
Running detection frame-by-frame fast enough to feel real time, while keeping bounding boxes and labels stable across frames.
Status
Working project. Detects objects/people in images, video and live camera input with bounding boxes and class labels.

07About

I build across the stack — and past it.

Computer Science student focused on AI/ML — retrieval systems, computer vision and NLP — with a builder's curiosity for electronics, robotics and mechanical systems.

My core work is software and AI — retrieval systems, computer vision and NLP. Alongside that, electronics, robotics and mechanics are genuine interests I keep exploring, because I like understanding a system all the way down to the physics that runs it.
